Ohhh Lexi!

Tonight was parent teacher conferences and the story of the day belongs to Lexi. Sometimes we just have to sit back and accept that we have really funky kids!

Mrs. Fogle is Lexi's classroom teacher and Mrs. Hanna is the gifted program teacher (also a good friend). I was not aware until I arrived that I would be meeting with the teachers at the same time. It went something like this.

Mrs. Fogle: I really dont have much to say about Lexi, she is doing great in.....

Mrs Hanna: Yes, she is just so fun to have in SAGE.

Mrs. Fogle: I can only think of one thing I am concerned about...pause...

Me: It's her questions, isn't it? (Mrs. Hanna giggles)

Mrs. Fogle: (Laughing) Today she raised her hand during our spelling review. (deep breath) I asked her if her question was important. In all seriousness she said "yes, very". Okay, go ahead. "What are your two favorite foods?"

My eyes are rolling and Mrs. Hanna is laughing so hard she can hardly stay in her seat.

Mrs. Hanna: (still laughing) Sometimes her questions are so distracting I forget what I am saying and the other kids have to help me. She definately keeps me thinking, some of her questions are so thought provoking.

Maybe you don't think this is funny, but I did. Lexi is the queen of twenty questions. Her questions are so off the wall and never have anything to do with what is going on. She can throw them at you so fast you can't process fast enough to keep up, forget trying to answer her. Both teachers agreed that usually her questions are very advanced for her age, but it is a distraction in class. I guess if that is their only complaint about her, life is good.

If you ever find yourself alone with Lexi, brace yourself. Prepare to say "I don't know" to about one third of her questions to which she will reply, "why not?". Then you will stare off into space wondering if any one but our creator knows the answer. Talk about making you feel stupid. I have had more than one person accuse her of making them feel like and idiot. Good luck!

She is so funny! I also liked your slideshow-I guess you figured out how to get it on there. I need to call you and have you talk me through it.

That's hilarious! My sister use to be like that and her friend's called her curious george. Sounds like you've got one of those. So cute.
