Counting Down

  • I was allowed to start back on my thyroid medication last night and am no longer on the low iodine diet. YEEEAAAHHHHHH!! My first normal meal was super yummy Navajo Tacos, a recipe I need to get from Alisa! I guess the kids pigged out on them. It will take a while to get back to normal but this is huge for me, I will remain in isolation until my body scan on Thursday.
  • Isolation has been much easier for me this time. It has been great to be at home and still be able to hear what is going on and talk to the kids from the stairwell. I think it has been easier for them as well. The hard part is when something goes wrong and I can't do anything about it. Reid woke Steffi the other night while Jacob was on call. It was a regular puke fest and she was on her own. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy! She is a trooper!
  • Someone asked if our basement is finished. Yes, completely. Our family room and office are down here as well as a bathroom, laundry, and storage. The family room is large enough that the couches are not affected by the queen size bed that we have set up behind them. My only complaint is Jacob likes to keep the thermostat down and the basement is cold. I have been using a space heater to keep comfortable. I am just so thankful the doctors agreed to this, they weren't thrilled but the kids have followed the rules.

I'm glad you're back on real food and that this isolation has been easier. If I had to isolate myself somewhere, your basement would be a pretty good place!
